Presented by Pat Scheib (recorded July 20, 2021)
This workshop will introduce a system of setting goals that can effectively move a student closer to achieving their long-term degree aspirations. We'll discuss parameters for setting more achievable goals, as well as practical ways to implement weekly, short-term goals to help students develop better overall study habits. Procrastination can hijack even a well-designed plan for success, and this workshop will discuss the ways we often set ourselves up for procrastination and strategies we can build into our daily habits that minimize the time we waste and maximize our productivity. Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to help students:
- focus on a few specific goals, to motive them through a semester;
- establish regular short-term goals each week, that can become effective weekly habits;
- recognize common habits and situations that encourage procrastination; and
- implement strategies to avoid procrastination.
