Balancing the demands of college with work, family and personal life is a challenge for most students. This workshop outlines strategies for setting up a weekly routine to encompass classes, work, and other priorities, while keeping up with homework, projects and assignments outside of class. We will also discuss how a lack of sleep, nutrition and other self-care habits can silently sabotage a semester, and discuss strategies for balancing school/work responsibilities with these personal needs. Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to help students:
- create an effective weekly routine to incorporate classes, study time and other priorities;
- understand how to find a balance between college, work, relaxation and personal interests;
- develop a system for keeping track of assignments and responsibilities;
- recognize the impact that self-care habits have on our daily functioning; and
- actively maintain healthy sleep, nutrition and stress management habits.
